CEU: Energy Reduction and Carbon Neutrality Updates for Commercial Properties
The Saint Paul Climate Action & Resilience Plan, adopted in 2019, established a goal for the City of Saint Paul to achieve carbon neutrality in its municipal building operations by 2030. While the City has been making steady progress on reducing building emissions over the past 5-10 years—primarily through energy efficiency projects like LED lighting upgrades and HVAC equipment replacements—the City also recognizes the need to accelerate the pace on its journey to carbon neutral operations for 150+ city-owned and operated buildings. This presentation will summarize the City of Saint Paul’s planning process and implementation strategies for decreasing operational emissions, highlighting some innovative projects underway such as the energy performance contract for Como Zoo, construction of the new North End Community Center, and other building retrofit projects that are leveraging energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. |
